Helen Smith Poem for the Ladies

Comment

THE "ROYAL GIRLS" ARE GOLF AT IT'S BEST!
YOU PLAY WITH THEM - AND YOU'RE PUT TO THE TEST!

THEIR CHIPPING AND PUTTING IS " EXTRAORDINAIRE"-
AND THEIR WINNING STROKES ARE ALL FAIR AND SQUARE!

IF ITS POURING WITH RAIN - OR THE SUN'S BEATING DOWN -
THEY'LL BE OUT THERE SMILING - AND "MUTTERING" -
MUST GET THIS PUTT DOWN!

BEST THING ABOUT "ROYALS" IS THAT THEY ALL HAVE BIG HEARTS -
THEY SHARE - NOT JUST SECRETS - SOMETIMES PUTTERS AND CARTS!

SOME GIRLS OF COURSE WILL ALWAYS PLAY WELL -
BUT FOR SOME ITS A MATTER OF - "OH WELL ! WHAT THE HELL"!!

BUT NO MATTER WHAT - WHETHER YOU WIN OR YOU LOSE -
THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT TUESDAY - WHEN YOU HOPE "ITS A CHOOSE"!!

Re-uNite at the Royal

PRESS RELEASE

2 March 2017

Historic coming together of rare living legends

DURBAN will see the reunion of two South Africa music legends when Shunna Pillay and Hugh Masekela play their "Re-uNite at the Royal" concert at the Royal Durban Golf Club on March 24 and 25.

Pillay, who with Masekela and Miriam Makeba were stars of the great African Jazz & Variety Show, met when they were teenagers and maintained strong relationships during their period in exile in the United States and England.

During this time, they performed in some of the best venues in the world including Village Vanguard, The Left Bank, Blue Angel, Mr Callies, Jack Isors and La Condor. The duo is expected to perform favourites including “The Girl that Got Away”, “Ne Me Quitte Pas”, “April in Paris” and “If you go Away”. They will be accompanied by virtuoso jazz pianist Burton Naidoo. Royal Durban Golf Club captain, Gator Reddy said that Pillay and Masekela were “rare living South African icons” and they expected sell-out shows.

We are very fortunate to have secured both Hugh and Shunna and they have been kind enough to donate profits to development golfers at the club. This concert is also very special because it records this historic reunion. We therefore urge ticket buyers to contact us and book early to avoid disappointment. We’re going to have 2 fantastic nights,” he said.

Pillay and Masekela issued a joint statement saying that playing in Durban would bring back great memories. “When African Jazz & Variety came to Durban in the 50s, we literally only played to sell-out audiences.” “City Hall would be filled to the rafters – and we would put on a great show.” “It is therefore a privilege for us to relive some of those moments at this concert.” “Expect something very special,” they said.

The shows start at 19h00 and only 140 tickets are available per night.

Bookings must be made by contacting Zane at Royal Durban on 031 309 1373.

For more information, contact Gator Reddy on 082 820 3276.

Beachwood Golf Club to be sold

Royal Durban Golf Club has noted with some regret that BEACHWOOD GOLF CLUB is to be sold in the near future and so we would like to extend a very warm "ROYAL" welcome to any of those members who are keen to join us in what we like to think is ‘the friendliest club in the Region’.

This invitation extends of course, not only to BEACHWOOD MEMBERS but to any golf enthusiast who want to join the ’Royal’ Family in 2017 - whether they are looking for a new Club or wanting to begin a club career, all are welcome at‘Royal’ – indeed Royal Durban is one of only FOUR (4) ‘’Royal’’ Clubs in the whole of South Africa and the only one in this region. So why not enjoy unique International ‘Royal Club’ reciprocity around the world as well as a unique warm and congenial atmosphere here in Durban.

All our membership categories right from Junior upwards are all displayed on our web page www.royaldurban.co.za or call us on 031 3091373 where we will endeavour to help.
