Tips from the Pro

Bunkers

Bunkers

Widen your stance. Stand a little more open and further away from the ball than you would normally. Lower your hands and place them behind the ball so that you effectively add loft to the clubface. As you swing back try to cup your left wrist. Stabilize your swing with a solid lower body action and accelerate the club into the sand sensing that your right hand works under the left so that the face of the club is looking skyward as it passes beneath the ball.

Maximise Distance

Maximise Distance

Sometimes we fail to maximize our distance due to a faulty setup. The following adjustments to your address position should be relatively easy to make.

Tee the ball a little higher than normal and play it forward in your stance opposite the instep of your left foot. Widen your stance slightly and settle at least 60% of your weight on your right side. Your head and your hands should be placed slightly behind the ball. Main tain a light grip pressure and relax the
shoulders.

Make a full and free shoulder turn, create a wide arc and get your body fully turned behind the ball at the top of your swing. You should be aware of an increase in the amount of coil that you create which will then enable you to move back to the left side and accelerate the club through impact.
