Chip as you putt

One way to gain confidence is to regard your chipping stroke merely as an extension of your putting stroke. Try this with your 8 iron. Take your normal putting grip and play the ball back in your stance. Keep your hands and weight forward favouring your left side and spread your elbows. The heel of the club must be raised off the ground – thus you must stand very close to the ball. Control the stroke with a gentle rocking of your shoulders. Concentrate on maintaining the width of the gap between your elbows as you swing back and through.
