Most players miss short putts because their backstrokes are too long and they decelerate through impact. A good drill to do is the tee drill. Stick a tee in the green about one putter head length directly behind the ball. Using the tee as a backstop practice 1m putts feeling the shorter motion. Accelerate the putter-head through impact to start the ball on your intended line. This drill will ingrain a stroke that’s shorter going back and accelerates through the ball.
